Alibaba’s Tmall has partnered with Chinese flash sale brand Mei.com to launch a new luxury flash sales channel, which debut with a live-streamed catwalk event, with all items directly shoppable via the retailer’s app.
The launch event live-streamed via the Tmall app and featured 42 looks, 30 womenswear, 10 menswear and 2 children’s looks, featuring brands including Sergio Rossi, Proenza Schouler, Stuart Weitzman, Carven, and Zegna Sport, which were all immediately shoppable using its ‘scan and buy’ feature.
Nearly 300 luxury brands were featured in the show from over 3,000 world-class brands available through Mei.com as their authorised online sales channel in China. The idea of the new shopping platform is to create a place for Chinese consumers to purchase international luxury brands with confidence.
The event was watched by over a million consumers and was attended by Olivia Palermo, who styled one of the looks at the show.
