French contemporary brand The Kooples has launched e-commerce in the United States. The new e-commerce site is expected to account for 25 percent of the company's U.S. business within the next several years.

In 2014, the company unveiled five flagship stores in the United States, two in New York, two in Los Angeles, and one in San Francisco. Wholesale was intended to be part of the business strategy when they launched as well.

“It was quite obvious when we launched in the U.S. that we’d launch an e-commerce site, but we weren’t perfectly ready,” ceo Nicolas Dreyfus said to WWD. In September, The Kooples will unveil its first outlet store at Sawgrass Mills in Miami.

Currently, the company operates in 15 countries, but they only have e-commerce sites for France, Germany, the U.K., and Switzerland. The brand attracts one million viewers to their European site each month.

E-commerce accounts for 9 percent of the company's business. Online sales have increased 25 percent in the first half of fiscal year 2016. The Kooples will be planning to launch e-commerce sites for Ireland and The Netherlands next.

For their U.S. e-commerce site, the company will be shipping items out of their NJ warehouse with same-day delivery from a store or warehouse as an option.

In addition to their new e-commerce endeavors, The Kooples will be launching a collection for the period between spring and winter called Sunrise, which will consist of 27 pieces.
