Australian-inspired boutique, Aust, will be hosting a pop-up art show on 16 May. The event is a conjunction with one of Aust’s mens labels, Zanerobe. Christopher Parsons, a photographer for Zanerobe, also joined the Aussie shop in order to help facilitate the art pop-up. The event’s intentions are to involve Aust’s customers in a new, interactive way. “The closing night will be a great chance to meet with Chris, shop some fresh Zanerobe gear, and mingle over some refreshments and dance to some tunes,” said Hannah Wang, owner of Aust.
The boutique introduces innovative and creative styles by incorporating Australian labels. Their diversity in labels and chic wear has drawn in consumers from local shoppers in Los Angeles. “People seem to be loving what we have in-store and we’ve heard some amazing feedback about the unique-ness, the careful curation we always aim for, and the inability to find clothes like these anywhere else,” said Wang. The clothing sold at Aust reflect the store’s relaxed environment by mixing edgy pieces with a laid-back touch. “Comfort and quality are important with the clothes so it can last you through running around in the Aussie bush, or hanging by the beach, or a wild night out,” said Wang.
Aussie fashion boutique becomes popular among LA locals
Aussie fashion compares similarly to Los Angeles fashion by emphasizing a cool, effortless vibe. Although the fashion styles are similar in this harmony between cutting-edge fashion and lax clothing, there are also distinctions between the two as well. “There’s definitely a contrast between the designers in Australia and the designers over here in the states [but] I think it fits in well with the California lifestyle and the Angelenos aren’t afraid to get a little more daring in their fashion either,” said Wang. Wang also believes that fashion designs in L.A. are growing more and more reflective of the adventurous Australian spirit through playfulness in prints, fabrics, and varying cuts.
